Through LELOs community organizing both City of Seattle Municipal Court and King County District Court adopted a partnership with community based organizations to assist communities impacted by driving while suspended.The primary goal was to deter drivers from receiving a criminal penalty because of their driving status or because of the profiling of the poor and communities of color.Intake services at the Burien and Seattle court (see schedule below) includes, but is not limited to, the following individual services: identifying the individuals licensing holds and court jurisdictions; understanding the listings on the driver license abstract and other related paperwork; write letters to traffic courts Judges, explanation of LELO re-licensing program expectations, requirements, and advocacy services; and enrollment into the our re-licensing program.Our program will work with individuals to understand and comply with the Washington State Department of Licensing requirements and resolve holds placed on their driver licenses; will help to work with collection agencies to reduce public debt and will promote programs and policies that enhance the quality of life for low-income, unemployed, partially employed, marginalized and disenfranchised communities through education, advocacy, policy development and community organizing.
If the defendant fails to respond, the District Court assesses a late penalty of 52 and notifies the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL). Upon notice from the District Court, DOL gives the defendant 45 days to resolve the infraction. Relicensing Programs In Washington State Full Or ArrangeIf the defendant does not pay the penalty in full or arrange for a time payment plan, DOL suspends the drivers license of the defendant. Infractions that are not paid are referred to a collection agency. Mandatory Seminar - Impact on Children The Pierce County Superior Court judges find that it is in the best interest of any child whose parents or custodians are involved in specific court proceedings to provide such parents with an educational workshop concerning the impact family restructuring has on their child. Mandatory Impact on Children Seminar offered for Non-Parental Custody Petitioners On September 1, 2013, Hope Sparks began offering a 4-hour Impact on Children seminar specifically aimed at families and individuals providing kinship care when the biological parent(s) are not fit or otherwise available to parent their children. This course is approved as an alternative to the regular Mandatory Impact on Children seminar required by PCLSPR 94.05 and is designed for petitioners in Non-Parental Custody cases under RCW Ch. Workshop Tools The workshop offers parents tools to help ensure that their childs emotional needs will not be overlooked during the legal processes, to encourage parents to agree on child-related matters and to aid in maximizing the use of court time. Introduction to the Seminar The shall provide information concerning the impact family restructuring has on children. Seminar Content The Superior Court judges (or a committee designated by the judges) adopted guidelines governing the content of the seminar, the minimum credentials and experience required of seminar instructors and administrative requirements of an acceptable program. ![]() Both the seminar content guidelines and the were adopted as a Superior Court administrative policy.
